Resolution 03-85

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOS ALTOS SUPPORTING A LOS ALTOS COMMUNITY POOL

WHEREAS, the City of Los Altos enjoys a strong sense of community, whcih is evident through the dynamic efforts of hundreds of residents who unselfishly volunteer thousands of hours; and

WHEREAS, a Community Pool facility will present an additional opportunity for Los Altos citizens to socialize to the well being of all; and

WHEREAS, the Los Altos City Council holds that our residents represent our most precious asset, their safety is our highest priority; and

WHEREAS, a Community Pool facility will provide opportunities to offer valuable water safety programs to help our residents acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to maintain their own safety and the safety of those around them for a safer community in general; and

WHEREAS, a Community Pool facility will also generate recreational possibilities for youth swim teams, and citizens of all ages, interests, and abilities;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Los Altos will build a Los Altos Community Swimming Pool facility based on a successful fund raising campaign by SPLASH, and also moral support for their efforts to raise funds.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council will take necessary measures to ensure the safety of children walking and cycling in the neighborhood in the vicinity of the pool facility.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that this resolution was duly introduced and adopted at the Regular Meeting of the Los Altos City Council on the 12th day of August, 2003, by the following roll call vote:

AYES: Mayor Casto, Councilmembers Becker, Lear, La Poll, and Moss
