Annual Chamber of Commerce Awards Dinner January 26

At the beginning of each year the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce welcomes new chamber officers and board members and applauds outstanding members at the annual awards dinner, enjoyed by chamber members and their guests.

The 2005 no-host cocktails and hors d'oeuvres event begins at 6 p.m., Jan. 26, at Chef Chu's restaurant San Antonio Road and El Camino Real. Board member Larry Chu will personally cater the 6:45 p.m. banquet.

The chamber will present the prestegious member of the year award to Lars Elmengard in recognition of his accomplishments.

Other awards scheduled are:

Ambassador of the year: Barbara Roark.

Community legacy award: Community Health Awareness Council (CHAC).

Community partnership award: SPLASH.

Community spirit award: Jeanne MacVicar, Coldwell Banker.

Downtown revitalization: Los Altos Village Association.

New Business of the year: Trader Joe's.

Outstanding service to chamber: Patsy Ouye, Heritage Bank.

President's special award: Courtyard by Marriott.

Retiring superintendent of the Los Altos School District, Marge Gratiot, will receive special recognition for her work in maintaining the excellence of the district schools.

The new chamber officers for 2005 are: Steve Shepherd, chairman of the board; Lars Elmengard, 1st vice chairman; Ron Labetich, 2nd vice chairman; Kamrin Knight, treasurer; and Alex Myers, past chairman.

Outgoing board members honored are: Danny Brooke, Patt's Greenhouse & Flowers; George Estill, Estill International Travel Service; and Patsy Ouye, Heritage Bank of Commerce.
